As part of our recent project activities, the “City as a Curriculum: Learning Elsewhere, Learning Otherwise” creative dialogues workshop was successfully held. This 90-minute session brought together experts from architecture, urbanism, and pedagogy to explore the educational potential of urban spaces beyond traditional classrooms.
Participants engaged in dynamic discussions and creative exercises, reimagining the city as a learning environment. The workshop explored how streets, squares, and community spaces can serve as educational platforms, fostering new ways of learning outside formal institutions. Through the use of projective techniques, like Dixit cards, attendees shared personal memories, conceptualized new ideas, and collaborated on innovative approaches to activate the pedagogical possibilities of urban spaces.
The workshop effectively bridged disciplines, developing fresh perspectives and tentative frameworks for enhancing learning in city environments. It provided a valuable platform for imagining education “elsewhere” and “otherwise,” contributing to the broader project goals of rethinking education in urban contexts.
