Biljana Branković is an architect, urban and product designer, as well as founder of archiPlay and Process educational architecture. She works as an Assistant Professor in Urban Design at the Faculty of Applied Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade. As a freelance architect working since 2007, she has won in team or independently national and international architecture and urban design competitions (Tourist info point, Budva, Montenegro – 1st prize; Shelters on biking and hiking routes, Montenegro – 1st prize; 4 HQ building entrance zones reconstruction, Tesla power plant, Obrenovac – 1st prize, Reconstruction of public square, Pančevo – 3rd prize). She is experienced in conceptualizing, coordinating and conducting various educational programs for all levels of education – from preschool to the university, and in collaborating with numerous institutions of culture and education (preschool and elementary school architecture workshops for Belgrade International Architecture Week, Belgrade Society of Architects, Center for Promotion of Science, Science and Technology Museum, October Salon; Veliko spremanje – annual architecture course for high school final year students; workshops for architecture and applied arts students within Pre Salona knowledge exchange program; author and conductor of “Bogdan Bogdanović – ukleti neimar” exhibition’s educational program, Museum of Belgrade; author and conductor of “Gradski nomad” exhibition’s educational program, Museum of Belgrade, mentor of Architecture Summer School – Petnica research station, guest lecture and workshop Zagreb Society of Architects; guest lecture and workshop – Sofia Architecture Week, guest lecture and workshop – Skopje Creativa). Her major research focus is built environment education for children and young, to which she has contributed through workshops and educational programs, participatory projects in local communities (participatory redesign of school yard in the primary school Mihajlo Petrovic), designing didactical tools such as a line of archi PLAY architectural toys (www.archiplay.rs). From 2013. to 2016. she was the national representative in the International Union of Architects – UIA Architecture and Children work programme. In 2019 her PhD proposal at the Faculty of Applied Arts has been accepted: “Towards more humane urban childhood: applying playborhood concept in improving cityscapes with spatial and artistic interventions”. Biljana sees IDEJE project as an ideal multidisciplinary project to inform her PhD, and vice-a-versa integrate her research findings into the project context and potentially further projects hosted at the Spatial Pedagogy Lab in the future.
