Dr. Marta Brkovic Dodig is an assistant professor at Faculty of Media and Communications, Singidunum University, and as well as the founding director of the NGO ARQubator. During and after her doctorate at the Faculty of Architecture, the University of Sheffield in the UK, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow, guest lecturer and researcher at the Technical University of Berlin, the Technical University of Munich, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia – UPC BarcelonaTech, as well as on knowledge transfer partnership projects in BDP – Building Design Partnership in Sheffield. She is the recipient of the prestigious Weiser Award for Professional Development through which she worked at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urbanism, the University of Michigan and the Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Technical University of Berlin.
As an architect, she worked in the offices: M-House Design in Belgrade, G + O Architekten in Munich and die Baupiloten in Berlin. She is engaged in research on: design of schools and learning spaces, sustainable architecture, participatory planning and design, activism in architecture, built environment education for children, as well as scientific research methodologies with a focus on research by design and games. She is the co-editor of The Routledge Companion to Games in Architecture and Urban Planning.
On this project she acts as the principal investigator. Her main motivation for working on the project is to establish a new scientific-research field of spatial pedagogy, which explains the pedagogical potential of space and answers the question of how space teaches.
