RELATE project aims at laying the foundations of a new field of scientific research we call ‘spatial pedagogy’ by achieving 4 main ground-braking objectives.

Identify and analyze existing city infrastructure through a completely novel perspective – using the lenses from pedagogy and educational psychology to analyze the educational potential of architecture and urban spaces able to support formal, non-formal and informal education.

Create innovative multidisciplinary analytical framework for analyzing outside curricula sites, able to act complimentary with standard educational institutions to increase educational outcomes and contribute to educational innovation and transformation.

Critically analyze a broad spectrum of studies, on the one hand, in architecture and urban studies, and on the other in pedagogy, educational psychology and sociology, which will result in consolidating the field of spatial pedagogy by laying down its multidisciplinary theoretical framework, providing stronger evidence-base and illustrating it with case studies.

Create original game as a planning tool for complementing traditional educational institutions with outside curricula sites, envisioning novice local educational futures, or developing the neighborhood curriculum – which is without its precedent internationally.
